ENTER THE MINT
STORED BY THE CHAIN, DRAWN BY THE CHAIN
These are not pictures hosted somewhere. Each Orbital is data on Bitcoin, and the chain itself can redraw it forever.
The image is data, not a file.
An Orbital's artwork is a few kilobytes of data recorded on Bitcoin. What you see is an SVG drawn fresh from that data every time it is viewed — nothing is hosted, so nothing can go missing. Own the piece and you own the data itself.
GO DEEPER
The collection contract carries its own renderer. When a wallet or marketplace displays a piece, it calls the contract's view function, which builds the SVG from the piece's traits on demand. There is no image server to break, move, or take down — the artwork is a computation the chain can always repeat.
Ordinals and Orbitals.
Ordinals made content permanent on Bitcoin: files inscribed on sats, immutable and brilliant — and static. Orbitals are the next step: tokens that live inside a smart contract on Bitcoin, with real standardized metadata and logic. An Ordinal is a permanent file. An Orbital is a living token that can compute.
GO DEEPER
An inscription binds content to a satoshi and tracks it by ordinal theory — ideal for permanence, silent on behavior. An Orbital is an asset issued by a contract on the Alkanes protocol: its metadata is queryable contract state in a standard shape rather than a naming convention, and its rules — supply, phases, entitlements — are enforced by code anyone can verify against the chain. The two compose: an Orbital's contract can reference inscribed Ordinals content as permanent building material.
The Alkanes protocol.
Alkanes is a smart-contract metaprotocol on Bitcoin L1. Contracts are carried in Bitcoin transactions and executed deterministically by open indexers — no sidechain, no bridge. Everything derives from Bitcoin itself.
GO DEEPER
Contracts compile to wasm and execute against Bitcoin transactions; mints, transfers, and view calls all ride the chain, and anyone running an indexer re-derives the complete state independently. The wider stack — including SUBFROST — extends what these contracts can hold and do, all settling on Bitcoin.
WHAT ORBITALS MAKE POSSIBLE
Programmable pieces
Mint phases, wallet limits, and earned entitlements — like the Aries collection's Custom Round — are contract rules collectors can verify on-chain, not promises on a website.
Real, standardized metadata
Traits and provenance live as queryable state in a standard shape. Wallets, marketplaces, and tools all read the same truth from the chain.
Composable with Ordinals
Orbitals can use inscribed Ordinals content as permanent building blocks — programmable tokens assembled from immutable material, all on Bitcoin.
FOR ARTISTS
Submit your collection for review.
Open Orbit is curated. Every submission is read and every listed collection is selected by hand — selection is not guaranteed, and no timeline is promised. If your work belongs on Bitcoin, show us.

How the mint works
Mint from a 3,333-sat floor on Bitcoin mainnet — a nod to the supply — one piece per transaction, up to three per wallet. Donate anything above the floor: there is no ceiling, and every sat feeds the donation leaderboard.
The leaderboard
Every sat you send above the floor counts toward your address's rank — on a mint, or as a top-up donation any time, even after your wallet has minted its three. Ranks and addresses are shown; amounts are not displayed on this site, though all totals are public on the Bitcoin chain. The top 300 addresses at settlement earn the Custom Round.

AFTER SELLOUT — THE CUSTOM ROUND
Shortly after the 3,000 sell out, the top 300 contributing addresses each design their own 1/1.
Choose all seven trait categories yourself — including an exclusive set of added traits available only in the Custom Round — alongside the 33 OG builders. Free for the top 300 and the OGs: you pay only network fees on Bitcoin mainnet. The leaderboard shows ranks and addresses; donation amounts are not displayed on this site, though all totals are public on the Bitcoin chain.

THE CAUSE
Every sat raised here goes to expanding the Alkanes builder ecosystem.
Aries Labs has taken on the role of growing and managing the Alkanes builder community. The Aries MCP is the AI-native front door for building on Alkanes and utilizing SUBFROST as a developer — a hosted MCP, free for all, now in live beta with real builders shipping against it. Donations from this mint directly fund that expansion: hosted tools kept free for builders, buildathon prizes, and builder grants for trusted builders creating innovative solutions on the Alkanes protocol.
